What an NFC introduction actually looks like
Hold the card near the reading area of a compatible NFC phone. The recipient opens the notification and your digital profile loads in the browser. They can then use the contact details and links you have chosen to publish. Keep your physical card for the next introduction.
A tap is not automatic lead capture, a mailing-list signup or proof that someone saved your details. You still need a useful conversation and a clear next action. A realtor might share a listings page; a contractor might make their phone and quote-request link easy to find.
Where paper remains useful
Paper is useful when a customer needs a physical reminder, you are leaving a note at an unattended site, or the person does not want to use a phone. It can also work as an enclosure with a parcel or invoice.
An NFC card can sit alongside a smaller supply of paper cards. You do not have to remove every paper touchpoint to use a reusable card for in-person meetings. Choose the format that makes the next step easy for that customer.
Editable contact details are the practical difference
With Pick Card, a phone number, email address or website can be changed on the digital profile without replacing the card. Profile updates are free and there is no subscription. An existing profile link opens the updated details after you save them.
That flexibility applies to the online profile, not the engraving. If your logo or engraved name changes, the old artwork remains. Keep frequently changing details online and approve permanent information carefully.
Compare your own costs rather than an invented saving
Pick Card's Metal card is $100 USD and includes an engraved QR backup and a separate Google Review Card. PVC is $75 USD. Standard shipping is $20 USD per order, with applicable taxes extra. Metal and PVC include custom engraving, proof approval and free profile updates.
Compare that total with what you actually spend on printed cards, reorders and delivery. Also consider how often you meet people and the chance of losing or replacing your reusable card. There is no universal break-even date or guaranteed sales improvement; a low-volume business may still prefer paper for some uses.
Plan a backup for the phone in front of you
NFC support, settings and the position of the reader vary by phone. A thick case or wallet accessory can interfere with the tap. Internet access is needed to load the online profile, so test your own card before using it at an event.
Metal's engraved QR code opens the same profile through a phone camera. PVC includes NFC and a profile link you can share digitally; the standard PVC offer does not include Metal's engraved QR backup. Keep your profile link available for the occasions when tapping is inconvenient.
A couple of common questions
Does an NFC card work without internet?
The phone may read the NFC link, but it needs an internet connection to load the digital profile. A paper card can still provide printed details without a connection.
Do I give my NFC card to every person I meet?
Normally you keep the physical card after they open the profile, then use it again. Share the profile link digitally or use a paper leave-behind when that suits the situation.
