Digital business card vs NFC business card: what should you buy?

A digital business card is the online profile people view. An NFC business card is a physical way to open that profile with a compatible phone. They are not competing formats: a Pick Card combines both. The buying decision is whether you need a physical card, which material suits your work, and what the profile service includes after the purchase.

Choose the profile first, then the way you share it

Start with what a new contact needs to do: call you, email you, visit your website or open a relevant business link. A digital profile gives those details one place to live. Sharing its link in a message does not require a physical card.

An NFC card adds an in-person sharing option. At a meeting, show the card, bring its NFC area near the phone's reader and let the recipient open the notification. You normally keep the card for the next introduction. NFC is the communication method, not a guarantee that a provider includes a profile, lead collection or a CRM.

Buy for the introductions you actually make

For mostly remote work, a profile link may be enough. For site visits, open houses, customer appointments and networking events, a physical card gives you a reusable way to offer your details. Keep a paper leave-behind when someone needs printed information or cannot use a phone.

Choose Pick Card's Metal card for its custom engraved black anodized aluminum body, engraved QR backup and included separate Review Card. Choose PVC for a lighter card and a lower standalone price. The standard PVC offer includes built-in NFC and a digitally shareable profile link, not Metal's engraved QR backup.

Check the ongoing cost, not just the card price

Ask whether editing your details is included, whether a subscription is required, and which features depend on a paid plan. A physical NFC card and the hosted service behind it are separate things to compare. A subscription can be useful when it provides features you need, but do not assume that every tap-to-share card requires one.

For Canadian shipping addresses, Pick Card's Metal NFC business card is $100 CAD and PVC is $75 CAD. Both include custom engraving, a final proof and a digital profile with free detail updates and no subscription. Metal also includes an engraved QR backup and a separate Google Review Card.

A separate Google Review Card is $25 CAD. Adding one to a $75 CAD PVC card gives the same $100 CAD product subtotal as Metal with its included Review Card. Standard shipping is $20 CAD per order, with applicable taxes extra. Product pages show the browsing currency; final prices and currency follow the shipping destination.

Know what a tap does, and what it does not do

For Pick Card, the NFC tag shares a link. The recipient opens the notification to load your profile in their browser. They do not need a Pick Card app or account. A tap does not automatically save your contact, reveal their contact details or add them to a mailing list.

A compatible NFC phone and the correct reader position are needed for tapping. Phone settings and cases can affect the read. Internet access is needed to load the online profile. Metal's engraved QR code is a second way to open that profile, not an offline copy of the page. Both networking cards also have a profile link you can send directly.

Separate permanent engraving from editable details

Your online phone number, title, website and other profile details can change without replacing the card. The physical name and logo stay as engraved. Check the proof for spelling and layout, and choose business branding rather than a permanent employee name when a card is intended to change hands.

For a team, decide who needs an individual profile and which cards may be reassigned later. Pick Card allows free digital profile updates and reassignment, but that does not erase an engraved name. Send your quantities and branding requirements for a confirmed order rather than assuming a volume discount.

Need customer feedback rather than contact sharing?

Choose the separate Google Review Card when the next action is leaving feedback on your Google Business Profile. It opens the review page for the correct business. Customers need a Google account to submit their own review and choose whether to do so.

Invite honest feedback without rewards, pressure or filtering for positive customers. The card provides a convenient route to the review page; it does not guarantee a review, a five-star rating or higher search rankings.

Before you order

Choose your material and prepare the details to engrave. You can start a Metal order without a finished logo and provide the artwork after checkout, but production still waits for the final proof and your approval. PVC and Review Card details are supplied through their setup process.

Pick Card prepares the proof within 2 business days and ships within 3–5 business days after approval. Carrier transit is additional. Check the shipping and quality policies before ordering for a fixed event date.

Yes. Share your Pick Card profile link in a message. Metal also includes an engraved QR code that opens the same profile. The standard PVC offer does not include that engraved QR backup.

Do Pick Card NFC business cards need a subscription?

No. Metal and PVC include the digital profile and free detail updates without a subscription. Shipping and applicable taxes are separate from the card price.
